Student Worker Jobs
It is good to get a fellowship, assistantship or scholarship, but if you are not among the lucky few to get funded, all hope is not lost. You can still look for student worker jobs on University campuses. Large US Universities employ hundreds of student workers in various labs, departments, cafeterias, transportation etc. It is a good idea to develop some computer skills, as many jobs require computer related skill or experience.
Please be aware that it is illegal for international students to work outside the University and beyond a certain number of hours per week, typically 20. When in doubt, contact the international student office.
