The University selection process should take into consideration the job prospects available after completion of a particular degree based on the reputation of the University and the location. Most of the top US Universities are located in the Northeastern part, near the East coast or in California on the west coast. These are the regions with greater number of high tech companies and more opportunities.
Prospective employers often look for potential employees in close proximity or in the same state. Make sure the state where your target University is located has industries of your choice of field.
The job figures posted on University or independent websites may not be applicable for you because even if many companies visit the University campus for hiring, only a small percentage of those companies consider international students. A true idea of job prospects can be gauged by talking to current international students at your target University.
